Critical Race Theory is a theory that try to define how racism has been affecting different US institutions .
Not being familiar with it, it was interesting to learn about its basic tenets.
Racism is ordinary
Race is present in our everyday life and not acknowledging that would make racism hard to difficult to address.
I think that this tenet want to make the discussion if racism and race more normalized and to not act like we don't see our differences when some feel that difference. Claiming to not see color doesn't solve the problem it is just a form of deflection.
Interest convergence
Getting ride of racism has to benefit white people.
I think this is something we think but don't necessarily want to be true. With a lot of injustices against the black community we saw rises of support from dominant white groups or cooperations. We all wondered if the support was genuine or if it was for profit. From products with support messages to statements and stands with the black community. Are theire actions driven by the answer to the question: Do we gain more from being with them than against them?
Social construction thesis
Conditions defined what minority group or community is marginalized.
